Whoever oppresses the poor insults his maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors him.

They force needy people off the road. All the poor people of the country go into hiding.

“Because oppressed people are robbed and needy people groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will provide safety for those who long for it.”

Whoever despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is the one who is kind to humble people.

Whoever makes fun of a poor person insults his maker. Whoever is happy ⌞to see someone’s⌟ distress will not escape punishment.

Whoever has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his good deed.

Oppressing the poor for profit ⌞or⌟ giving to the rich certainly leads to poverty.

The rich and the poor have this in common: the Lord is the maker of them all.

Whoever becomes wealthy through ⌞unfair⌟ loans and interest collects them for the one who is kind to the poor.

Don’t be surprised if you see poor people being oppressed, denied justice, or denied their rights in any district. One authority is watching over another, and they both have authorities watching over them.

Never take advantage of each other. Fear your God, because I am the Lord your God.

“If an Israelite becomes poor and cannot support himself, help him. He must live with you as a stranger without a permanent home.

You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me with you.”

Don’t withhold pay from hired workers who are poor and needy, whether they are Israelites or foreigners living in one of your cities.

Christ has given us this commandment: The person who loves God must also love other believers.
