A heart that turns ⌞from God⌟ becomes bored with its own ways, but a good person is satisfied with God’s ways.

He loved to put curses ⌞on others⌟, so he, too, was cursed. He did not like to bless ⌞others⌟, so he never received a blessing.

One person enjoys good things as a result of his speaking ability. Another is paid according to what his hands have accomplished.

No ⌞lasting⌟ harm comes to a righteous person, but wicked people have lots of trouble.

The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger can share its joy.

A gullible person believes anything, but a sensible person watches his step.

A person’s speaking ability provides for his stomach. His talking provides him a living.

If you are wise, your wisdom will help you. If you mock, you alone will be held responsible.

“This is what the Lord says: Cursed is the person who trusts humans, who makes flesh and blood his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord.

Your own wickedness will correct you, and your unfaithful ways will punish you. You should know and see how evil and bitter it is for you if you abandon the Lord your God and do not fear me,” declares the Almighty Lord of Armies.

The people of Jerusalem turned away from me without ever returning. They still cling to deceit. They refuse to return.

So I will pour out my anger on you, and with my fiery anger I will consume you. This is because of all the things you have done,’ declares the Almighty Lord.”

“The people of Israel are as stubborn as a bull. How can the Lord feed them like lambs in an open pasture?

I will remove those who have turned away from following the Lord and those who no longer seek the Lord or ask him for help.”

But those who drink the water that I will give them will never become thirsty again. In fact, the water I will give them will become in them a spring that gushes up to eternal life.”

We are proud that our conscience is clear. We are proud of the way that we have lived in this world. We have lived with a God-given holiness  and sincerity, especially toward you. It was not by human wisdom that we have lived but by God’s kindness.

Each of you must examine your own actions. Then you can be proud of your own accomplishments without comparing yourself to others.

If you plant in ⌞the soil of⌟ your corrupt nature, you will harvest destruction. But if you plant in ⌞the soil of⌟ your spiritual nature, you will harvest everlasting life.

Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you ever develop a wicked, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
