When righteous people prosper, a city is glad. When wicked people die, there are songs of joy.

All the people of the land were celebrating. But the city was quiet because they had killed Athaliah with a sword at the royal palace.

She looked, and the king was standing by the pillar at the entrance. The commanders and the trumpeters were by his side. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets. The singers were leading the celebration with songs accompanied by musical instruments. As Athaliah tore her clothes ⌞in distress⌟, she said, “Treason, treason!”

Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the Lord. He has won a glorious victory. He has thrown horses and their riders into the sea.”

With the blessing of decent people a city is raised up, but by the words of wicked people, it is torn down.

When righteous people triumph, there is great glory, but when wicked people rise, people hide themselves.

When wicked people rise, people hide. When they die, righteous people increase.

When righteous people increase, the people ⌞of God⌟ rejoice, but when a wicked person rules, everybody groans.

Then heaven and earth and everything in them will rejoice over Babylon, because destroyers from the north will attack it,” declares the Lord.

May all your enemies die like that, O Lord. But may those who love the Lord be like the sun when it rises in all its brightness. So the land had peace for 40 years.
