Whoever loves discipline loves to learn, but whoever hates correction is a dumb animal.

Give ⌞advice⌟ to a wise person, and he will become even wiser. Teach a righteous person, and he will learn more.

I’m talking to intelligent people. Judge for yourselves what I’m saying.

“If you understand, listen to this. Open your ears to my words!

“You people who have understanding, listen to me. It is unthinkable that God would ever do evil or that the Almighty would ever do wicked things.

“People of understanding, the wise people who listen to me, will say,

As he was talking, the king asked him, “Did we make you an adviser to the king? Stop! Do you want me to have you killed?” The prophet stopped. He said, “I know that God has decided to destroy you because you did this, but you refuse to listen to my advice.”

A mocker searches for wisdom without finding it, but knowledge comes easily to a person who has understanding.

I saw something else under the sun. The race isn’t ⌞won⌟ by fast runners, or the battle by heroes. Wise people don’t necessarily have food. Intelligent people don’t necessarily have riches, and skilled people don’t necessarily receive special treatment. But time and unpredictable events overtake all of them.

Faithfully obey these laws. This will show the people of the world your wisdom and insight. When they hear about all these laws, they will say, “What wise and insightful people there are in this great nation!”

“Listen to my words, you wise men. Open your ears to me, you intelligent men.

Listen to discipline, and become wise. Do not leave my ways.

Do not warn a mocker, or he will hate you. Warn a wise person, and he will love you.

The mind of a person who has understanding acquires knowledge. The ears of wise people seek knowledge.

Strike a mocker, and a gullible person may learn a lesson. Warn an understanding person, and he will gain more knowledge.

When a mocker is punished, a gullible person becomes wise, and when a wise person is instructed, he gains knowledge.
