If he has no uncles, give his property to the nearest relative in his family, and that relative will take possession of it. This will be a rule for the Israelites, as the Lord commanded Moses.”

It is your responsibility to purchase it, because the rights of the closest relative belong to you. Buy it for yourself.’ Then I knew that the Lord had spoken to me.

If your brother becomes poor and sells some of his property, then the one who can assume responsibility, his nearest relative, must buy back what he sold.

His uncle, his cousin, or some other relative could also buy him back. If he becomes rich, he could buy his own freedom.

If he has no brothers, give his property to his uncles on his father’s side of the family.

“These will be the rules for future generations wherever you live.

From that time on he made this a rule and a custom in Israel as it is to this day.
