Numbers 16:3

They came together to confront Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You’ve gone far enough! Everyone in the whole community is holy, and the Lord is among them. Why do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”

The Israelites and their sons have married some of these foreign women. They have mixed our holy race with the neighboring groups of people. Furthermore, the leaders and officials have led the way in being unfaithful.”

In the camp certain men became envious of Moses. They also became envious of Aaron, the Lord’s holy one.

So you and all your followers have joined forces against the Lord! Who is Aaron that you should complain about him?”

The next day the whole community of Israel complained to Moses and Aaron. They said, “You have killed the Lord’s people.”

and put burning coals and incense in them in the Lord’s presence. Then the Lord will choose the man who is holy. You’ve gone far enough!”

He doesn’t want any trouble for the descendants of Jacob. He sees no misfortune for the people of Israel. The Lord their God is with them, praised as their king.

Never make the land where you and I live unclean. I, the Lord, live among the Israelites.”

Send all of these unclean men and women outside the camp. They must not make this camp where I live among you unclean.”

but our ancestors were not willing to obey him. Instead, they pushed him aside, and in their hearts they turned back to Egypt.

“How stubborn can you be? How can you be so heartless and disobedient? You’re just like your ancestors. They always opposed the Holy Spirit, and so do you!
