They kept him in custody until they decided what to do with him.
When Moses’ father-in-law saw everything Moses was doing for the people, he asked, “Why are you doing this for the people? Why do you sit here alone, while all the people stand around you from morning until evening?”
Moses answered his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to find out God’s will.
They kept him in custody until the Lord told them what to do.
Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole community.
Moses answered them, “Wait here until I find out what the Lord commands you to do.”
