The Lord said, “I forgive them, as you have asked.
God said he was going to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, stood in his way to prevent him from exterminating them.
O Lord, our God, you answered them. You showed them that you are a forgiving God and that you are a God who punishes their ⌞sinful⌟ deeds.
So the Lord reconsidered his threat to destroy his people.
Moses answered Pharaoh, “You may have the honor of choosing when I should pray for you, your officials, and your people. Then the frogs will leave you and your homes. The only ones left will be those in the Nile.”
This is what the Lord says: The people who survived the wars have found favor in the desert. Israel went to find its rest.
So admit your sins to each other, and pray for each other so that you will be healed. Prayers offered by those who have God’s approval are effective.
