Nehemiah 9:32

God's Word

And now, our God, you are the great, mighty, and awe-inspiring God. You faithfully keep your promises. Do not consider all the hardships that we have been going through as unimportant. The hardships have come to our kings, leaders, priests, prophets, ancestors, and all your people from the time of the kings of Assyria until now.

In Josiah’s days Pharaoh Necoh (the king of Egypt) came to help the king of Assyria at the Euphrates River. King Josiah went to attack Necoh. When Pharaoh saw him at Megiddo, Pharaoh killed him.

I said, “Lord God of heaven, great and awe-inspiring God, you faithfully keep your promise  and show mercy to those who love you and obey your commandments.

We must fear the Lord, the Most High. He is the great king of the whole earth.

Say to God, “How awe-inspiring are your deeds! Your power is so great that your enemies will cringe in front of you.

Come and see what God has done— his awe-inspiring deeds for Adam’s descendants.

Moses told his father-in-law everything the Lord had done to Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel, all the hardships they had had on the way, and how the Lord had saved them.

A child will be born for us. A son will be given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. He will be named: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I prayed to the Lord my God. I confessed and said, “Lord, you are great and deserve respect as the only God. You keep your promise  and show mercy to those who love you and obey your commandments.

We haven’t listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, leaders, ancestors, and all the common people.

We, our kings, leaders, and ancestors are ashamed because we have sinned against you, Lord.

“If you still will not listen to me, I will discipline you seven times for your sins.

“If you resist and don’t listen to me, I will increase the punishment for your sins seven times.

then I, too, will resist you. I will punish you seven times for your sins.

I will fiercely resist you. I will discipline you seven times for your sins.

If you listen to these rules and faithfully obey them, the Lord your God will keep his promise to you and be merciful to you, as he swore to your ancestors.

He will love you, bless you, and increase the number of your descendants. He will bless you with children. He will bless your land with produce: grain, new wine, and olive oil. He will bless your herds with calves, and your flocks with lambs and kids. This will all happen in the land the Lord will give you, as he swore to your ancestors.

Don’t be afraid of them, because the Lord your God is with you. He is a great and awe-inspiring God.

Keep in mind that the Lord your God is ⌞the only⌟ God. He is a faithful God, who keeps his promise  and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commands.
