Nehemiah 2:20

“The God of heaven will give us success,” I answered them. “We, his servants, are going to rebuild. You have no property or claim or historic right in Jerusalem.”

He dedicated his life to serving God in the days of Zechariah, who taught him to fear God. As long as he dedicated his life to serving the Lord, the Lord gave him success.

But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of Israel’s families told them, “It isn’t right for your people and our people to build a temple for our God together. We must build it alone for the Lord God of Israel, as King Cyrus of Persia ordered us to do.”

When I heard this, I sat down and cried. I mourned for days. I continued to fast and pray to the God of heaven.

“What do you want?” the king asked me. So I prayed to the God of heaven,

“All the king’s advisers and the people in the king’s provinces know that no one approaches the king in the throne room without being summoned. By law that person must be put to death. Only if the king holds out the golden scepter to him will he live. I, myself, have not been summoned to enter the king’s presence for 30 days now.”

He will turn his attention to the prayers of those who have been abandoned. He will not despise their prayers.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you prosper.

We will joyfully sing about your victory. We will wave our flags in the name of our God. The Lord will fulfill all your requests.

Let those who are happy when I am declared innocent joyfully sing and rejoice. Let them continually say, “The Lord is great. He is happy when his servant has peace.”

Favor Zion with your goodness. Rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

“Whenever Aaron goes into the holy place, he will be carrying the names of the sons of Israel over his heart as a constant reminder in the Lord’s presence. He must do this by wearing the breastplate for decision-making.

It’s good to hold on to the one and not let go of the other, because the one who fears God will be able to avoid both extremes.

Inside my house and within my walls, I will give them something better than sons and daughters. I will give them a monument and a name. I will give them a permanent name that will not be forgotten.

Then bring it to Aaron’s sons, the priests. Take from this a handful of flour with olive oil, and all the incense. The priest will burn it on the altar as a reminder. It is an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to the Lord.

Lay pure incense on top of each stack. The incense on the bread will be a reminder, an offering by fire to the Lord.

The crown will be a reminder to Helem, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen (son of Zephaniah) in the Lord’s temple.

Also, on your festival days and on the first day of the month, blow the trumpets when you sacrifice your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. The trumpets will be a reminder for you in God’s presence. I am the Lord your God.”

He said to me, ‘Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and has remembered your gifts to the poor.

He stared at the angel and was terrified. Cornelius asked the angel, “What do you want, sir?” The angel answered him, “God is aware of your prayers and your gifts to the poor, and he has remembered you.

You won’t have any share in this because God can see how twisted your thinking is.
