Everyone who sees you will run from you, saying, ‘Nineveh has been violently destroyed! Who will feel sorry for her?’ Where can I find anyone to comfort you?”

Twice as many disasters have happened to you. Who will feel sorry for you? Violence, destruction, famine, and war have happened to you. Who will comfort you?

No one will take pity on you, Jerusalem. No one will mourn for you. No one will bother to ask how you are doing.

“This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: I am going to punish the king of Babylon and his land as I punished the king of Assyria.

We wanted to heal Babylon, but it couldn’t be healed. Let’s abandon it and go to our own land. God has judged Babylon. Its judgment is complete.

This is a revelation from the Lord about Nineveh. This book contains the vision of Nahum from Elkosh.

The Lord will use his power against the north and destroy Assyria. He will turn Nineveh into a deserted ruin, a dried up wasteland like the desert.

All the Israelites around them ran away when they heard their screams. They thought the ground would swallow them, too.

Frightened by her torture, they will stand far away and say, ‘How horrible, how horrible it is for that important city, the powerful city Babylon! In one moment judgment has come to it!’
