God's Word

Now listen to what the Lord is saying, “Stand up! Plead your case in front of the mountains, and let the hills listen to your request.

The Lord, the only true God, has spoken. He has summoned the earth from where the sun rises to where it sets.

He summons heaven and earth to judge his people:

Listen, heaven, and pay attention, earth! The Lord has spoken, “I raised ⌞my⌟ children and helped them grow, but they have rebelled against me.

The Lord takes his place in the courtroom. He stands to judge his people.

Listen, and pay attention! Don’t be arrogant. The Lord has spoken.

O land, land, land! Listen to the Lord’s word.

⌞The Lord said,⌟ “Son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel. Tell them, ‘Mountains of Israel, listen to the Lord’s word.

“ ‘But you, mountains of Israel, will grow branches and bear fruit for my people Israel. My people will come home soon.

Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones. Tell them, ‘Dry bones, listen to the Lord’s word.

Say this, ‘You mountains of Israel, listen to the Almighty Lord’s word! This is what the Almighty Lord says to the mountains and hills and to the ravines and valleys: I am going to attack you with a sword and destroy your worship sites.

Listen to this message which I, the Lord, have spoken against you Israelites, against your whole family that I brought out of Egypt.

Listen, all you people! Pay attention, earth and all who are on it. The Almighty Lord will be a witness against you. The Lord will be a witness from his holy temple.

Mountains will melt under him like wax near a fire. Valleys will split apart like water pouring down a steep hill.

I will take revenge with great anger on the nations that do not obey me.”

Listen to the Lord’s lawsuit, you mountains. Listen, you strong foundations of the earth. The Lord has filed a lawsuit against his people. He is arguing his case against Israel.

Jesus replied, “I can guarantee that if they are quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Listen, heaven, and I will speak. Earth, hear the words from my mouth.

you will quickly disappear from the land you’re going to possess on the other side of the Jordan River. You won’t live very long there. You’ll be completely wiped out.

Now, stand up while I put you on trial in front of the Lord and cite all the righteous things the Lord did for you and your ancestors.

“Be quiet,” Samuel told Saul, “and let me tell you what the Lord told me last night.” “Speak,” Saul replied.
