This is what the Lord says about the prophets who mislead my people: When they have something to eat, they say, “All is well!” But they declare a holy war against those who don’t feed them.

Showing partiality is not good, because some people will turn on you even for a piece of bread.

“Children will oppress my people. Women will rule them. My people, your guides mislead you, and you don’t know which way to go.”

They tell each other the dreams they had, because they want to make my people forget my name, as their ancestors forgot my name because of Baal.

I’m against those who prophesy dreams they made up,” declares the Lord. “They tell the dreams they made up and lead my people astray with their lies and their wild talk. I didn’t send them or command them to go. They don’t help these people at all,” declares the Lord.

They treat my people’s wounds as though they were not serious, saying, ‘Everything is alright! Everything is alright!’ But it’s not alright.

⌞The shepherds say,⌟ ‘Prepare yourselves for war against Zion. Let’s attack at noon! How horrible it will be for us. The day is passing, and the shadows of evening are growing longer.

Your prophets saw misleading visions about you. They painted a good picture of you. They didn’t expose your guilt in order to make things better again. They gave you false prophecies that misled you.

I will use my power against the prophets who see false visions and predict things that don’t come true. They will not help my people make decisions or be recorded in the records of the nation of Israel. They won’t even enter Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

During the day you stumble, and during the night the prophets stumble with you. So I will destroy your mother, ⌞the nation of Israel⌟.

Announce this among the nations: Prepare yourselves for war. Wake up the warriors. Have all the warriors come near and attack.

Liars and frauds may go around and say, “We will preach to you about wine and liquor.” They would be just the type of preacher you want.

Your leaders exchange justice for bribes. Your priests teach for a price. Your prophets tell the future for money. But they rely on the Lord when they say, “After all, the Lord is with us. Nothing bad will happen to us.”

“But you have turned from the ⌞correct⌟ path and caused many to stumble over my teachings. You have corrupted the promise made to Levi,” says the Lord of Armies.

Leave them alone! They are blind leaders. When one blind person leads another, both will fall into the same pit.”

“Beware of false prophets. They come to you disguised as sheep, but in their hearts they are vicious wolves.

People like these are not serving Christ our Lord. They are serving their own desires. By their smooth talk and flattering words they deceive unsuspecting people.
