Matthew 7:21

God's Word

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who does what my Father in heaven wants.

People who merely listen to the laws in Moses’ Teachings don’t have God’s approval. Rather, people who do what those laws demand will have God’s approval.

“Why do you call me Lord but don’t do what I tell you?

Do what God’s word says. Don’t merely listen to it, or you will fool yourselves.

Jesus replied, “Rather, how blessed are those who hear and obey God’s word.”

They claim to know God, but they deny him by what they do. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit to do anything good.

However, some people enter that place of rest. Those who heard the Good News in the past did not enter God’s place of rest because they did not obey God.

My Father wants all those who see the Son and believe in him to have eternal life. He wants me to bring them back to life on the last day.”

Everyone who wins the victory this way will wear white clothes. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life. I will acknowledge them in the presence of my Father and his angels.

That way you won’t be guided by sinful human desires as you live the rest of your lives on earth. Instead, you will be guided by what God wants you to do.

May this God of peace prepare you to do every good thing he wants. May he work in us through Jesus Christ to do what is pleasing to him. Glory belongs to Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

Whoever does what my Father in heaven wants is my brother and sister and mother.”

“Blessed are those who wash their robes so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

Jesus answered Nicodemus, “I can guarantee this truth: No one can enter God’s kingdom without being born of water and the Spirit.

Then he said to them, “I can guarantee this truth: Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Those who want to follow the will of God will know if what I teach is from God or if I teach my own thoughts.

Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect.

Whoever does what God wants is my brother and sister and mother.”

Whatever happens, give thanks, because it is God’s will in Christ Jesus that you do this.

Don’t obey them only while you’re being watched, as if you merely wanted to please people. But obey like slaves who belong to Christ, who have a deep desire to do what God wants them to do.

God wants you to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing what is right.

“His master replied, ‘Good job! You’re a good and faithful servant! You proved that you could be trusted with a small amount. I will put you in charge of a large amount. Come and share your master’s happiness.’

It is God’s will that you keep away from sexual sin as a mark of your devotion to him.

Epaphras, a servant of Christ Jesus from your city, greets you. He always prays intensely for you. He prays that you will continue to be mature and completely convinced of everything that God wants.

After the homeowner gets up and closes the door, ⌞it’s too late⌟. You can stand outside, knock at the door, and say, ‘Sir, open the door for us!’ But he will answer you, ‘I don’t know who you are.’

They strengthened the disciples in these cities and encouraged the disciples to remain faithful. Paul and Barnabas told them, “We must suffer a lot to enter God’s kingdom.”

Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter God’s kingdom.”

If your eye causes you to lose your faith, tear it out! It is better for you to enter God’s kingdom with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell.

I can guarantee again that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter God’s kingdom.”

That is what my Father in heaven will do to you if each of you does not sincerely forgive other believers.”

The person who hates me also hates my Father.

Then he went away a second time and prayed, “Father, if this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, let your will be done.”

Jesus replied, “Simon, son of Jonah, you are blessed! No human revealed this to you, but my Father in heaven revealed it to you.

Those people will rule the nations with iron scepters and shatter them like pottery.

If you have known me, you will also know my Father. From now on you know him ⌞through me⌟ and have seen him ⌞in me⌟.”

Jesus replied to them, “My Father is working right now, and so am I.”

After walking a little farther, he quickly bowed with his face to the ground and prayed, “Father, if it’s possible, let this cup ⌞of suffering⌟ be taken away from me. But let your will be done rather than mine.”

“Be careful not to despise these little ones. I can guarantee that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father, who is in heaven.

“I can guarantee again that if two of you agree on anything here on earth, my Father in heaven will accept it.

“While they were buying oil, the groom arrived. The bridesmaids who were ready went with him into the wedding hall, and the door was shut.
