But I tell you not to oppose an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn your other cheek to him as well.

Then Zedekiah, son of Chenaanah, went to Micaiah and struck him on the cheek. “How did the Lord’s Spirit leave me to talk to you?” he asked.

The experts in Moses’ Teachings and the Pharisees were watching Jesus closely. They wanted to see whether he would heal the man on the day of rest—a holy day, so that they could find a way to accuse him of doing something wrong.

Jesus replied to him, “If I’ve said anything wrong, tell me what it was. But if I’ve told the truth, why do you hit me?”

You are already totally defeated because you have lawsuits against each other. Why don’t you accept the fact that you have been wronged? Why don’t you accept that you have been cheated?

Make sure that no one ever pays back one wrong with another wrong. Instead, always try to do what is good for each other and everyone else.

You struggle against sin, but your struggles haven’t killed you.

You have condemned and murdered people who have God’s approval, even though they didn’t resist you.

Don’t pay people back with evil for the evil they do to you, or ridicule those who ridicule you. Instead, bless them, because you were called to inherit a blessing.
