When he experienced this distress, he begged the Lord his God to be kind and humbled himself in front of the God of his ancestors.

His prayer and how God accepted it are written in the records of Hozai. The things he did before he humbled himself are also written there. This includes all his sins and unfaithfulness and the places where he built illegal worship sites and set up idols and poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah.

He didn’t humble himself in front of the Lord as his father Manasseh had humbled himself. Instead, Amon continued to sin.

Blessed is the person who does not follow the advice of wicked people, take the path of sinners, or join the company of mockers.

Hallelujah! Blessed is the person who fears the Lord and is happy to obey his commands.

Blessed are all who fear the Lord and live his way.

Blessed are those who receive help from the God of Jacob. Their hope rests on the Lord their God,

Kiss the Son, or he will become angry and you will die on your way because his anger will burst into flames. Blessed is everyone who takes refuge in him.

The Lord is near to those whose hearts are humble. He saves those whose spirits are crushed.

Blessed is the one who has concern for helpless people. The Lord will rescue him in times of trouble.

The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. O God, you do not despise a broken and sorrowful heart.

O Lord of Armies, blessed is the person who trusts you.

Better to be humble with lowly people than to share stolen goods with arrogant people.

A person’s pride will humiliate him, but a humble spirit gains honor.

“Now, sons, listen to me. Blessed are those who follow my ways.

The Lord is waiting to be kind to you. He rises to have compassion on you. The Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.

The High and Lofty One lives forever, and his name is holy. This is what he says: I live in a high and holy place. But I am with those who are crushed and humble. I will renew the spirit of those who are humble and the courage of those who are crushed.

The Spirit of the Almighty Lord is with me because the Lord has anointed me to deliver good news to humble people. He has sent me to heal those who are brokenhearted, to announce that captives will be set free and prisoners will be released.

I have made all these things. “That is why all these things have come into being,” declares the Lord. I will pay attention to those who are humble and sorry ⌞for their sins⌟ and who tremble at my word.

You mortals, the Lord has told you what is good. This is what the Lord requires from you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to live humbly with your God.

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for hiding these things from wise and intelligent people and revealing them to little children.

Whoever doesn’t lose his faith in me is indeed blessed.”

“Blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear.

Jesus said, “Don’t stop children from coming to me! Children like these are part of God’s kingdom.”

That servant will be blessed if his master finds him doing this job when he comes.

“Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, my Father has blessed you! Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.

“Turn to God and change the way you think and act, because the kingdom of heaven is near.”

I can guarantee that many will come from all over the world. They will eat with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

When Jesus saw this, he became irritated. He told them, “Don’t stop the children from coming to me. Children like these are part of God’s kingdom.

Jesus replied, “Rather, how blessed are those who hear and obey God’s word.”

“I can guarantee that this tax collector went home with God’s approval, but the Pharisee didn’t. Everyone who honors himself will be humbled, but the person who humbles himself will be honored.”

So as my Father has given me a kingdom, I’m giving it to you.

You will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. You will also sit on thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.”

“The Spirit of the Lord is with me. He has anointed me to tell the Good News to the poor. He has sent me to announce forgiveness to the prisoners of sin and the restoring of sight to the blind, to forgive those who have been shattered by sin,

Jesus said to Thomas, “You believe because you’ve seen me. Blessed are those who haven’t seen me but believe.”

Remember that for 40 years the Lord your God led you on your journey in the desert. He did this in order to humble you and test you. He wanted to know whether or not you would wholeheartedly obey his commands.

Rich believers should be proud because being rich should make them humble. Rich people will wither like flowers.

Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Didn’t God choose poor people in the world to become rich in faith and to receive the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

Then the angel said to me, “Write this: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the lamb’s wedding banquet.’ ” He also told me, “These are God’s true words.”

“Blessed are those who wash their robes so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.

You say, ‘I’m rich. I’m wealthy. I don’t need anything.’ Yet, you do not realize that you are miserable, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.
