“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, lie, and say all kinds of evil things about you because of me.

Indeed, we are being killed all day long because of you. We are thought of as sheep to be slaughtered.

Everyone will hate you because you are committed to me.

Blessed are you when people hate you, avoid you, insult you, and slander you because you are committed to the Son of Man.

Those who want to save their lives will lose them. But those who lose their lives for me will save them.

Indeed, they will do all this to you because you are committed to me, since they don’t know the one who sent me.

The Jews yelled at him, “You’re his disciple, but we’re Moses’ disciples.

I’ll show him how much he has to suffer for the sake of my name.”

As Scripture says: “We are being killed all day long because of you. We are thought of as sheep to be slaughtered.”

We have given up our wisdom for Christ, but you have insight because of Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honored, but we are dishonored.

While we are alive, we are constantly handed over to death for Jesus’ sake so that the life of Jesus is also shown in our mortal nature.

God has given you the privilege not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him.

Christ never verbally abused those who verbally abused him. When he suffered, he didn’t make any threats but left everything to the one who judges fairly.

If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed because the Spirit of glory—the Spirit of God—is resting on you.

You have endured, suffered trouble because of my name, and have not grown weary.
