When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up a mountain and sat down. His disciples came to him,

The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat. He sat in the boat while the entire crowd stood on the shore.

Jesus moved on from there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up a mountain and sat there.

Large crowds followed him. They came from Galilee, the Ten Cities, Jerusalem, Judea, and from across the Jordan River.

Jesus went up a mountain, called those whom he wanted, and they came to him.

Then Jesus went home. Another crowd gathered so that Jesus and his disciples could not even eat.

Jesus began to teach again by the Sea of Galilee. A very large crowd gathered around him, so he got into a boat and sat in it. The boat was in the water while the entire crowd lined the shore.

At that time Jesus went to a mountain to pray. He spent the whole night in prayer to God.

Jesus came down from the mountain with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples and many other people were there. They had come from all over Judea, Jerusalem, and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon.

Jesus looked at his disciples and said, “Blessed are those who are poor. God’s kingdom is theirs.

About eight days after he had said this, Jesus took Peter, John, and James with him and went up a mountain to pray.

Jesus realized that the people intended to take him by force and make him king. So he returned to the mountain by himself.
