“He saved others, but he can’t save himself. So he’s Israel’s king! Let him come down from the cross now, and we’ll believe him.

They asked, “Where is the one who was born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star rising and have come to worship him.”

They placed a written accusation above his head. It read, “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

and said, “You were going to tear down God’s temple and build it again in three days. Save yourself! If you’re the Son of God, come down from the cross.”

The chief priests together with the experts in Moses’ Teachings and the leaders made fun of him in the same way. They said,

Let the Messiah, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now so that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with him were insulting him.

They shouted joyfully, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven.”

The people stood there watching. But the rulers were making sarcastic remarks. They said, “He saved others. If he’s the Messiah that God has chosen, let him save himself!”

and say, “If you’re the king of the Jews, save yourself!”

Nathanael said to Jesus, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the king of Israel!”

So they took palm branches and went to meet him. They were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel!”

If anyone hears my words and doesn’t follow them, I don’t condemn them. I didn’t come to condemn the world but to save the world.

So once again the Jews called the man who had been blind. They told him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man who gave you sight is a sinner.”

When they saw the man who was healed standing with Peter and John, they couldn’t say anything against the two apostles.
