Kings take their stands. Rulers make plans together against the Lord and against his Messiah  by saying,

When one of them comes to visit me, he speaks foolishly. His heart collects gossip. ⌞Then⌟ he leaves to tell others.

⌞My enemies⌟ spread out a net to catch me. (My soul is bowed down.) They dug a pit to trap me, but then they fell into it. Selah

They lie in ambush for me right here! Fierce men attack me, O Lord, but not because of any disobedience,

those who make people sin with words, those who lay traps for judges, those who, without any reason, deny justice to people who are in the right.

Then they said, “Let’s plot against Jeremiah, because the teachings of the priests, the advice of wise people, and the word of the prophets won’t disappear. Accuse him! Pay no attention to anything he says.”

I have heard many ⌞people⌟ whispering, “Terror is everywhere! Report him! Let’s report him!” All my closest friends are waiting to see me stumble. They say, “Maybe he will be tricked. Then we can overpower him and take revenge on him.”

The Pharisees left and plotted to kill Jesus.

I’m saying this for your benefit, not to restrict you. I’m showing you how to live a noble life of devotion to the Lord without being distracted by other things.

Think about Jesus, who endured opposition from sinners, so that you don’t become tired and give up.
