When the chief priests and the experts in Moses’ Teachings saw the amazing miracles he performed and the children shouting in the temple courtyard, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were irritated.

O Lord, your power is visible, but they do not see it. They will see how devoted your people are, and they will be put to shame. Your burning anger will destroy your enemies.

When the other ten apostles heard about this, they were irritated with the two brothers.

Then Jesus went into the temple courtyard and began to teach. The chief priests and the leaders of the people came to him. They asked, “What gives you the right to do these things? Who told you that you could do this?”

The crowd that went ahead of him and that followed him was shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They answered him, “David’s.”

Then the chief priests and the leaders of the people gathered in the palace of the chief priest Caiaphas.

The chief priests and the whole council were searching for false testimony to use against Jesus in order to execute him.

Early in the morning all the chief priests and the leaders of the people decided to execute Jesus.

But the chief priests and leaders persuaded the crowd to ask for the release of Barabbas and the execution of Jesus.

When Jesus left that place, two blind men followed him. They shouted, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.”

When the chief priests and the experts in Moses’ Teachings heard him, they looked for a way to kill him. They were afraid of him because he amazed all the crowds with his teaching.

One day Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courtyard and telling them the Good News. The chief priests, the experts in Moses’ Teachings, and the leaders came up to him.

The chief priests and the experts in Moses’ Teachings were looking for some way to kill Jesus. However, they were afraid of the people.

In the morning the council of the people’s leaders, the chief priests and the experts in Moses’ Teachings, gathered together. They brought Jesus in front of their highest court and asked him,

(The chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that whoever knew where Jesus was should tell them so that they could arrest him.)

The Pharisees said to each other, “This is getting us nowhere. Look! The whole world is following him!”

Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that he was making and baptizing more disciples than John.

Doesn’t Scripture say that the Messiah will come from the descendants of David and from the village of Bethlehem, where David lived?”
