Two blind men were sitting by the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

The Lord gives sight to blind people. The Lord straightens ⌞the backs⌟ of those who are bent over. The Lord loves righteous people.

When that day comes, the deaf will hear the words written in the book. The blind will see out of their gloom and darkness.

I will lead the blind on unfamiliar roads. I will lead them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light in front of them. I will make rough places smooth. These are the things I will do for them, and I will never abandon them.

Listen, you deaf people. Look, you blind people, so that you can see.

We grope like blind men along a wall. We grope like people without eyes. We stumble at noon as if it were twilight. We are like dead people among healthy people.

Some seeds were planted along the road, and birds came and devoured them.

A Canaanite woman from that territory came ⌞to him⌟ and began to shout, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.”

The crowd told them to be quiet. But they shouted even louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Blind and lame people came to him in the temple courtyard, and he healed them.

The crowd that went ahead of him and that followed him was shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

“What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They answered him, “David’s.”

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus, his disciples, and many people were leaving Jericho, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road.

“The Spirit of the Lord is with me. He has anointed me to tell the Good News to the poor. He has sent me to announce forgiveness to the prisoners of sin and the restoring of sight to the blind, to forgive those who have been shattered by sin,

At that time Jesus was curing many people who had diseases, sicknesses, and evil spirits. Also, he was giving back sight to many who were blind.

David was a prophet and knew that God had promised with an oath that he would place one of David’s descendants on his throne.
