Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, sell what you own. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”

When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. He said to Abram, “I am God Almighty. Live in my presence with integrity.

This is the account of Noah and his descendants. Noah had God’s approval and was a man of integrity among the people of his time. He walked with God.

A man named Job lived in Uz. He was a man of integrity: He was decent, he feared God, and he stayed away from evil.

Notice the innocent person, and look at the decent person, because the peacemaker has a future.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me.

The young man replied, “I have obeyed all these commandments. What else do I need to do?”

When the young man heard this, he went away sad because he owned a lot of property.

Jesus said to them, “I can guarantee this truth: When the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne in the world to come, you, my followers, will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus said to them, “Come, follow me! I will teach you how to catch people instead of fish.”

That is why you must be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.

But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

When Jesus was leaving that place, he saw a man sitting in a tax office. The man’s name was Matthew. Jesus said to him, “Follow me!” So Matthew got up and followed him.

Jesus looked at him and loved him. He told him, “You’re still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”

When Jesus was leaving, he saw Levi, son of Alphaeus, sitting in a tax office. Jesus said to him, “Follow me!” So Levi got up and followed him.

Then Jesus called the crowd to himself along with his disciples. He said to them, “Those who want to follow me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses, and follow me.

“Sell your material possessions, and give the money to the poor. Make yourselves wallets that don’t wear out! Make a treasure for yourselves in heaven that never loses its value! In heaven thieves and moths can’t get close enough to destroy your treasure.

In the same way, none of you can be my disciples unless you give up everything.

⌞Jesus continued,⌟ “I’m telling you that although wealth is often used in dishonest ways, you should use it to make friends for yourselves. When life is over, you will be welcomed into an eternal home.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still need one thing. Sell everything you have. Distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”

After that, Jesus left. He saw a tax collector named Levi sitting in a tax office. Jesus said to him, “Follow me!”

A student is no better than his teacher. But everyone who is well-trained will be like his teacher.

He said to all of them, “Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses every day, and follow me.

My sheep respond to my voice, and I know who they are. They follow me,

Those who serve me must follow me. My servants will be with me wherever I will be. If people serve me, the Father will honor them.

From time to time, they sold their property and other possessions and distributed the money to anyone who needed it.

You suffered with prisoners. You were cheerful even though your possessions were stolen, since you know that you have a better and more permanent possession.
