They will never be hungry or thirsty, nor will the sun or the burning, hot wind strike them. The one who has compassion on them will lead them and guide them to springs.

Since he doesn’t have any root, he lasts only a little while. When suffering or persecution comes along because of the word, he immediately falls ⌞from faith⌟.

Other seeds were planted on rocky ground, where there was little soil. The plants sprouted quickly because the soil wasn’t deep.

When the sun came up, they were scorched. They didn’t have any roots, so they withered.

Some people are like seeds on rocky soil. They welcome the word with joy whenever they hear it, but they don’t develop any roots. They believe for a while, but when their faith is tested, they abandon it.

Then Christ will live in you through faith. I also pray that love may be the ground into which you sink your roots and on which you have your foundation.

This is on the condition that you continue in faith without being moved from the solid foundation of the hope that the Good News contains. You’ve heard this Good News of which I, Paul, became a servant. It has been spread throughout all creation under heaven.

Sink your roots in him and build on him. Be strengthened by the faith that you were taught, and overflow with thanksgiving.

They will never be hungry or thirsty again. Neither the sun nor any burning heat will ever overcome them.
