“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field. When a man discovered it, he buried it again. He was so delighted with it that he went away, sold everything he had, and bought that field.

No mortal knows where it is. It cannot be found in this world of the living.

How much better it is to gain wisdom than gold, and the gaining of understanding should be chosen over silver.

Why should a fool have money in his hand to buy wisdom when he doesn’t have a mind to grasp anything?

A loner is out to get what he wants for himself. He opposes all sound reasoning.

Buy truth (and do not sell it), ⌞that is,⌟ buy wisdom, discipline, and understanding.

“Listen! Whoever is thirsty, come to the water! Whoever has no money can come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk. You don’t have to pay; it’s free!

Jesus used another illustration. He said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who planted good seed in his field.

When he found a valuable pearl, he went away, sold everything he had, and bought it.

“Also, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea. It gathered all kinds of fish.

Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, sell what you own. Give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then follow me!”

Then Peter replied to him, “Look, we’ve given up everything to follow you. What will we get out of it?”

And everyone who gave up homes, brothers or sisters, father, mother, children, or fields because of my name will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life.

Your heart will be where your treasure is.

In the same way, none of you can be my disciples unless you give up everything.

Jesus told them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never become hungry, and whoever believes in me will never become thirsty.

Everything written long ago was written to teach us so that we would have confidence through the endurance and encouragement which the Scriptures give us.

God has hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Christ.

Let Christ’s word with all its wisdom and richness live in you. Use psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to teach and instruct yourselves about ⌞God’s⌟ kindness. Sing to God in your hearts.

You suffered with prisoners. You were cheerful even though your possessions were stolen, since you know that you have a better and more permanent possession.

I advise you: Buy gold purified in fire from me so that you may be rich. Buy white clothes from me. Wear them so that you may keep your shameful, naked body from showing. Buy ointment to put on your eyes so that you may see.
