These are the names of the twelve apostles: first and foremost, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee;

After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John (the brother of James) and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone.

Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her two sons. She bowed down in front of him to ask him for a favor.

He took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons with him. He was beginning to feel deep anguish.

As he was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew. They were throwing a net into the sea because they were fishermen.

As Jesus went on, he saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee preparing their nets to go fishing. He called them,

After they left the synagogue, they went directly to the house of Simon and Andrew. James and John went with them.

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives facing the temple buildings, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately,

The apostles gathered around Jesus. They reported to him everything they had done and taught.

That’s why the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles. They will murder some of those prophets and apostles and persecute others.’

When it was time to eat the Passover meal, Jesus and the apostles were at the table.

Jesus sent Peter and John and told them, “Go, prepare the Passover lamb for us to eat.”

James and John, who were Zebedee’s sons and Simon’s partners, were also amazed. Jesus told Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will catch people instead of fish.”

The apostles came back and told Jesus everything they had done. He took them with him to a city called Bethsaida so that they could be alone.

Philip told Andrew, and they told Jesus.

One disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, was near him at the table.

So she ran to Simon Peter and the other disciple, whom Jesus loved. She told them, “They have removed the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they’ve put him.”

Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee’s sons, and two other disciples of Jesus were together.

Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved. That disciple was following them. He was the one who leaned against Jesus’ chest at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”

This disciple was an eyewitness of these things and wrote them down. We know that what he says is true.

So Jesus asked the twelve apostles, “Do you want to leave me too?”

Jesus replied, “I chose all twelve of you. Yet, one of you is a devil.”

Jesus meant Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. Judas, who was one of the twelve apostles, would later betray Jesus.

One of Jesus’ disciples, Andrew, who was Simon Peter’s brother, told him,

When they came into the city, Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon the Zealot, and Judas (son of James) went to the second-story room where they were staying.

They drew names to choose an apostle. Matthias was chosen and joined the eleven apostles.

He had James, the brother of John, executed.

Peter and John were going to the temple courtyard for the three o’clock prayer.

Next he appeared to James. Then he appeared to all the apostles.

He also gave apostles, prophets, missionaries, as well as pastors and teachers as gifts ⌞to his church⌟.

Brothers and sisters, you are holy partners in a heavenly calling. So look carefully at Jesus, the apostle and chief priest about whom we make our declaration of faith.

From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. To God’s chosen people who are temporary residents ⌞in the world⌟ and are scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.

From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. To those who have obtained a faith that is as valuable as ours, a faith based on the approval that comes from our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

From the church leader. To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love because we share the truth. I’m not the only one who loves you. Everyone who knows the truth also loves you.

From the church leader. To my dear friend Gaius, whom I love because we share the truth.

This is the revelation of Jesus Christ. God gave it to him to show his servants the things that must happen soon. He sent this revelation through his angel to his servant John.

I am John, your brother. I share your suffering, ruling, and endurance because of Jesus. I was ⌞exiled⌟ on the island of Patmos because of God’s word and the testimony about Jesus.

“Gloat over it, heaven, God’s people, apostles, and prophets. God has condemned it for you.”

I, John, heard and saw these things. When I had heard and seen them, I bowed to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing me these things.
