God's Word

Jesus saw that they were in a lot of trouble as they rowed, because they were going against the wind. Between three and six o’clock in the morning, he came to them. He was walking on the sea. He wanted to pass by them.

He said, “Please, gentlemen, why don’t you come to my home and spend the night? ⌞You can⌟ wash your feet there. Then early tomorrow morning you can continue your journey.” “No,” they answered, “we’d rather spend the night in the city square.”

Then the man said, “Let me go; it’s almost dawn.” But Jacob answered, “I won’t let you go until you bless me.”

He stretches out the heavens by himself and walks on the waves of the sea.

You lay the beams of your home in the water. You use the clouds for your chariot. You move on the wings of the wind.

The Lord above is mighty— mightier than the sound of raging water, mightier than the foaming waves of the sea.

Just before dawn, the Lord looked down from the column of fire and smoke and threw the Egyptian camp into a panic.

“You suffering, comfortless, storm-ravaged city! I will rebuild your city with precious stones. I will reset your foundations with sapphires.

The boat, now hundreds of yards from shore, was being thrown around by the waves because it was going against the wind.

You realize that if a homeowner had known at what time of the night a thief was coming, he would have stayed awake. He would not have let the thief break into his house.

Therefore, be alert, because you don’t know when the owner of the house will return. It could be in the evening or at midnight or at dawn or in the morning.

When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and he was alone on the land.

When they saw him walking on the sea, they thought, “It’s a ghost!” and they began to scream.

They will be blessed if he comes in the middle of the night or toward morning and finds them awake.

When they came near the village where they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther.

These people didn’t become God’s children in a physical way—from a human impulse or from a husband’s desire ⌞to have a child⌟. They were born from God.

The next day Saul arranged the army in three divisions. They came into the ⌞Ammonite⌟ camp during the morning hours and continued to defeat the Ammonites until it got hot that day. The survivors were so scattered that no two of them were left together.
