Then they went to Capernaum. On the next day of rest—a holy day, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.

He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. This was in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.

Jesus went all over Galilee. He taught in the synagogues and spread the Good News of the kingdom. He also cured every disease and sickness among the people.

He immediately called them, and they left their father Zebedee and the hired men in the boat and followed Jesus.

After they left the synagogue, they went directly to the house of Simon and Andrew. James and John went with them.

The whole city had gathered at his door.

So he went to spread ⌞the Good News⌟ in the synagogues all over Galilee, and he forced demons out of people.

Jesus left there and went into the territory of Judea along the other side of the Jordan River. Crowds gathered around him again, and he taught them as he usually did.

Several days later Jesus came back to Capernaum. The report went out that he was home.

Jesus went into a synagogue again. A man who had a paralyzed hand was there.

When the day of rest—a holy day, came, he began to teach in the synagogue. He amazed many who heard him. They asked, “Where did this man get these ideas? Who gave him this kind of wisdom and the ability to do such great miracles?

And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to heaven? No, you will go to hell!

Jesus was teaching in a synagogue on the day of rest—a holy day.

Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. As usual he went into the synagogue on the day of rest—a holy day. He stood up to read the lesson.

So he said to them, “You’ll probably quote this proverb to me, ‘Doctor, cure yourself!’ and then say to me, ‘Do all the things in your hometown that we’ve heard you’ve done in Capernaum.’ ”

As usual, Paul went into the synagogue. On three consecutive days of rest—holy days, he had discussions about Scripture with the synagogue members.

On every day of rest—a holy day, Paul would discuss ⌞Scripture⌟ in the synagogue. He tried to win over Jews and Greeks who had converted to Judaism.
