At the time of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah, all the Israelites were giving gifts for the daily support of the singers and the gatekeepers. They set aside holy gifts for ⌞the daily support of⌟ the Levites, and the Levites set aside holy gifts for support of Aaron’s descendants.

had provided a large room for Tobiah. Previously, this room had been used to store grain offerings, incense, utensils, a tenth of all the grain harvested, new wine, and olive oil. These things belonged by law to the Levites, singers, and gatekeepers. The contributions for the priests had also been stored there.

Trust the Lord, and do good things. Live in the land, and practice being faithful.

If the clouds are full of rain, they will let it pour down on the earth. If a tree falls north or south, the tree will remain where it fell.

I will bless them and the places around my hill. I will send rain at the right time. These showers will be a blessing to them.

The priests should have the best of all the first ripened fruits. The best of every gift from all your contributions must go to the priests. The best of your dough must go to the priests. This will cause a blessing to rest on your home.

“On that day I will answer your ⌞prayers⌟,” declares the Lord. “I will speak to the sky, it will speak to the earth,

The Lord said to his people, “I am going to send grain, new wine, and olive oil to you. You will be satisfied with them. I will no longer make you a disgrace among the nations.

The threshing floors  will be filled with grain. The vats will overflow with new wine and olive oil.

You will clear out old food supplies to make room for new ones.

“This is what I will do if you will live by my laws and carefully obey my commands:

“One-tenth of what comes from the land, whether grain or fruit, is holy and belongs to the Lord.

Is there any seed left in the barn? The vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree still haven’t produced. But from now on I will bless you.”

“I am giving the Levites one-tenth of every Israelite’s income. This is in return for the work they do at the tent of meeting.

But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you.

Bring him your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, one-tenth of your income, your contributions, the offerings you vow to bring, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your cattle, sheep, and goats.

Every year be sure to save a tenth of the crops harvested from whatever you plant in your fields.

Foreigners, orphans, and widows who live in your cities may come to eat all they want. The Levites may also come because they have no land of their own as you have. Then the Lord your God will bless you in whatever work you do.

The Lord will open the heavens, his rich storehouse, for you. He will send rain on your land at the right time and bless everything you do. You will be able to make loans to many nations but won’t need to borrow from any.
