Jesus answered, “You unbelieving and corrupt generation! How long must I be with you and put up with you? Bring your son here!”

But when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent a messenger to the king. He asked, “Why did you tear your clothes? Please let Naaman come to me and find out that there is a prophet in Israel.”

Then they will not be like their ancestors, a stubborn and rebellious generation. Their hearts were not loyal. Their spirits were not faithful to God.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord God of the Hebrews says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself in my presence? Let my people go to worship me.

The Lord said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to do what I have commanded and instructed you to do?

Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart so that you may be rescued. Don’t continue making evil plans.

The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to trust me in spite of all the miraculous signs I have done among them?

“How long must I put up with this wicked community that keeps complaining about me? I’ve heard the complaints the Israelites are making about me.

“Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.

He responded, “The people of an evil and unfaithful era look for a miraculous sign. But the only sign they will get is the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Then it goes and brings along seven other spirits more evil than itself. They enter and take up permanent residence there. In the end the condition of that person is worse than it was before. That is what will happen to the evil people of this day.”

“Evil and unfaithful people look for a miraculous sign. But the only sign they will be given is that of Jonah.” Then he left them standing there and went away.

Jesus replied, “You unbelieving and corrupt generation! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to me!”

I can guarantee this truth: The people living now will be held accountable for all these things.

But when he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to be baptized, he said to them, “You poisonous snakes! Who showed you how to flee from God’s coming anger?

When Jesus saw this, he became irritated. He told them, “Don’t stop the children from coming to me. Children like these are part of God’s kingdom.

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him!” They called the blind man and told him, “Cheer up! Get up! He’s calling you.”

Jesus said to them, “You unbelieving generation! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me!”

He asked them, “Where is your faith?” Frightened and amazed, they asked each other, “Who is this man? He gives orders to the wind and the water, and they obey him!”

I begged your disciples to force the spirit out of him, but they couldn’t do it.”

While he was coming ⌞to Jesus⌟, the demon knocked the boy to the ground and threw him into convulsions. Jesus ordered the evil spirit to leave. He cured the boy and gave him back to his father.

Jesus replied, “I have been with all of you for a long time. Don’t you know me yet, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Take your hand, and put it into my side. Stop doubting, and believe.”

and he put up with them for about forty years in the desert.

Peter said much more to warn them. He urged, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

Do you have contempt for God, who is very kind to you, puts up with you, and deals patiently with you? Don’t you realize that it is God’s kindness that is trying to lead you to him and change the way you think and act?

He recognizes that his people are corrupt. To their shame they are no longer his children. They are devious and scheming.

So we see that they couldn’t enter his place of rest because they didn’t believe.

So we must make every effort to enter that place of rest. Then no one will be lost by following the example of those who refused to obey.

We have heard the same Good News that your ancestors heard. But the message didn’t help those who heard it in the past because they didn’t believe.

That is why he is always able to save those who come to God through him. He can do this because he always lives and intercedes for them.
