These are the names of the twelve apostles: first and foremost, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee;

Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James (son of Alphaeus), and Thaddaeus;

As he was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew. They were throwing a net into the sea because they were fishermen.

As Jesus went on, he saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee preparing their nets to go fishing. He called them,

As Jesus went on a little farther, he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat preparing their nets ⌞to go fishing⌟.

After they left the synagogue, they went directly to the house of Simon and Andrew. James and John went with them.

He took Peter, James, and John with him and began to feel distressed and anguished.

He appointed these twelve: Simon (whom Jesus named Peter),

Jesus allowed no one to go with him except Peter and the two brothers James and John.

After six days Jesus took only Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain where they could be alone. Jesus’ appearance changed in front of them.

James and John, who were Zebedee’s sons and Simon’s partners, were also amazed. Jesus told Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will catch people instead of fish.”

When Simon Peter saw this, he knelt in front of Jesus and said, “Leave me, Lord! I’m a sinful person!”

When it was day, he called his disciples. He chose twelve of them and called them apostles.

Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (who was called the Zealot),

Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the man whom Moses wrote about in his teachings and whom the prophets wrote about. He is Jesus, son of Joseph, from the city of Nazareth.”

Philip said to Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will satisfy us.”

As Jesus saw a large crowd coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?”

One of Jesus’ disciples, Andrew, who was Simon Peter’s brother, told him,

When they came into the city, Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon the Zealot, and Judas (son of James) went to the second-story room where they were staying.

He had James, the brother of John, executed.

From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. To those who have obtained a faith that is as valuable as ours, a faith based on the approval that comes from our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
