It was at the time when Annas and Caiaphas were chief priests that God spoke to John, son of Zechariah, in the desert.

The prophet Isaiah wrote, “I am sending my messenger ahead of you to prepare the way for you.”

The child John grew and became spiritually strong. He lived in the desert until the day he appeared to the people of Israel.

John said, “I’m a voice crying out in the desert, ‘Make the way for the Lord straight,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”

Annas sent Jesus to Caiaphas, the chief priest. Jesus was still tied up.

The chief priest Annas, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and the rest of the chief priest’s family were present.
