But Jesus said absolutely nothing to him in reply, so the governor was very surprised.

Christ never verbally abused those who verbally abused him. When he suffered, he didn’t make any threats but left everything to the one who judges fairly.

But Jesus no longer answered anything, so Pilate was surprised.

Meanwhile, the chief priests and the experts in Moses’ Teachings stood there and shouted their accusations against Jesus.

He went into the palace again and asked Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus didn’t answer him.
