Jesus replied, “Peter, I can guarantee that the rooster won’t crow tonight until you say three times that you don’t know me.”

But Peter said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just then, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

Then Peter went outside and cried bitterly.

When the Lord saw her, he felt sorry for her. He said to her, “Don’t cry.”

and sent them to ask the Lord, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for someone else?”

Jesus replied, “Will you give your life for me? I can guarantee this truth: No rooster will crow until you say three times that you don’t know me.

God used his power to give Jesus the honored position—the one next to him on the heavenly throne as leader and savior. He did this to lead the people of Israel to him, to change the way they think and act, and to forgive their sins.

Remember that once you were not Jewish physically. Those who called themselves “the circumcised” because of what they had done to their bodies called you “the uncircumcised.”

Remember how far you have fallen. Return to me and change the way you think and act, and do what you did at first. I will come to you and take your lamp stand from its place if you don’t change.
