The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid! I have good news for you, a message that will fill everyone with joy.

Go up a high mountain, Zion. Tell the good news! Call out with a loud voice, Jerusalem. Tell the good news! Raise your voice without fear. Tell the cities of Judah: “Here is your God!”

The Spirit of the Almighty Lord is with me because the Lord has anointed me to deliver good news to humble people. He has sent me to heal those who are brokenhearted, to announce that captives will be set free and prisoners will be released.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces the good news, “All is well.” He brings the good news, announces salvation, and tells Zion that its God rules as king.

When Jesus came near, he spoke to them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse. Through you every family on earth will be blessed.”

Immediately, Jesus said, “Calm down! It’s me. Don’t be afraid!”

The angel told her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary. You have found favor  with God.

I was the first to tell Zion, ‘Look, here they are.’ I gave Jerusalem a messenger with the good news.

This is on the condition that you continue in faith without being moved from the solid foundation of the hope that the Good News contains. You’ve heard this Good News of which I, Paul, became a servant. It has been spread throughout all creation under heaven.

We are telling you the Good News: What God promised our ancestors has happened.

Scripture also says that by the authority of Jesus people would be told to turn to God and change the way they think and act so that their sins will be forgiven. This would be told to people from all nations, beginning in the city of Jerusalem.

After this, Jesus traveled from one city and village to another. He spread the Good News about God’s kingdom. The twelve apostles were with him.

I am the least of all God’s people. Yet, God showed me his kindness by allowing me to spread the Good News of the immeasurable wealth of Christ to people who are not Jewish.

The angel answered him, “I’m Gabriel! I stand in God’s presence. God sent me to tell you this good news.

Rejoice with all your heart, people of Zion! Shout in triumph, people of Jerusalem! Look! Your King is coming to you: He is righteous and victorious. He is humble and rides on a donkey, on a colt, a young pack animal.

The angel said to him, “Don’t be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife Elizabeth will have a son, and you will name him John.

He said, “The time has come, and God’s kingdom is near. Change the way you think and act, and believe the Good News.”

Now, the Lord says, “You are not just my servant who restores the tribes of Jacob and brings back those in Israel whom I have preserved. I have also made you a light for the nations so that you would save people all over the world.”

How can people tell the Good News if no one sends them? As Scripture says, “How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who announce the Good News.”

Then Jesus said to them, “So wherever you go in the world, tell everyone the Good News.

The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid! I know you’re looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

He said, “Don’t be afraid. You are highly respected. Everything is alright! Be strong! Be strong!” As he talked to me, I became stronger. I said, “Sir, tell me what you came to say. You have strengthened me.”

The Lord will show his holy power to all the nations. All the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

Today your Savior, Christ the Lord, was born in David’s city.
