Lazarus would have eaten any scraps that fell from the rich man’s table. Lazarus was covered with sores, and dogs would lick them.
She said, “You’re right, Lord. But even the dogs eat scraps that fall from their masters’ tables.”
She answered him, “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat some of the children’s scraps.”
There was also a beggar named Lazarus who was regularly brought to the gate of the rich man’s house.
“One day the beggar died, and the angels carried him to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried.
When the people were full, Jesus told his disciples, “Gather the leftover pieces so that nothing will be wasted.”
To this moment, we are hungry, thirsty, poorly dressed, roughly treated, and homeless.
Because I’ve had to work so hard, I’ve often gone without sleep, been hungry and thirsty, and gone without food and without proper clothes during cold weather.
