“Never oppress or rob your neighbor. Never keep the pay you owe a hired worker overnight.

If I have eaten its produce without paying for it and made its owners breathe their last,

Like a slave, he longs for shade. Like a hired hand, he eagerly looks for his pay.

If it was killed by a wild animal, he must bring in the dead body as evidence. He doesn’t have to make up for an animal that has been killed.

If the owner is with the animal, the borrower doesn’t have to make up for the loss. If it is rented, the rental fee covers the loss.

“Never mistreat or oppress foreigners, because you were foreigners living in Egypt.

“This is what you must do whenever someone gives his neighbor silver or ⌞other⌟ valuables to keep for him, and they are stolen from that person’s house: If the thief is caught, he must make up for the loss with double the amount.

A double standard of weights and measures— both are disgusting to the Lord.

Do not rob the poor because they are poor or trample on the rights of an oppressed person at the city gate,

When you have the good thing with you, do not tell your neighbor, “Go away! Come back tomorrow. I’ll give you something then.”

“How horrible it will be for the person who builds his house dishonestly and his upper rooms through injustice. He makes his neighbors work for nothing and doesn’t pay them for their work.

“This is what the Lord says: Judge fairly, and do what is right. Rescue those who have been robbed from those who oppress them. Don’t mistreat foreigners, orphans, or widows, and don’t oppress them. Don’t kill innocent people in this place.

He doesn’t oppress anyone. He returns what a borrower gives him as security for a loan. He doesn’t rob anyone. He gives food to people who are hungry, and he gives clothes to those who are naked.

Other people take bribes to murder people. You collect interest and make excessive profits. You make profits by mistreating your neighbors. You have forgotten me, declares the Almighty Lord.

The common people oppress and rob others. They do wrong to humble people and to poor people. They oppress foreigners for no reason.

If you sell anything to your neighbor or buy anything from him, don’t take advantage of him.

Never take advantage of each other. Fear your God, because I am the Lord your God.

If you find something that someone lost and lie about it under oath, or commit any other sin like this,

“I will come to judge you. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers, lying witnesses, and those who cheat workers out of their wages and oppress widows and orphans. I will also testify against those who deprive foreigners of their rights. None of them fear me,” says the Lord of Armies.

“When evening came, the owner of the vineyard told the supervisor, ‘Call the workers, and give them their wages. Start with the last, and end with the first.’

You know the commandments: Never murder. Never commit adultery. Never steal. Never give false testimony. Never cheat. Honor your father and mother.”

He told them, “Don’t collect more money than you are ordered to collect.”

No one should take advantage of or exploit other believers that way. The Lord is the one who punishes people for all these things. We’ve already told you and warned you about this.

After all, Scripture says, “Never muzzle an ox when it is threshing  grain,” and “The worker deserves his pay.”

The wages you refused to pay the people who harvested your fields shout ⌞to God⌟ against you. The Lord of Armies has heard the cries of those who gather the crops.
