“Never steal, lie, or deceive your neighbor.

Don’t lie to each other. You’ve gotten rid of the person you used to be and the life you used to live,

So then, get rid of lies. Speak the truth to each other, because we are all members of the same body.

The one who does deceitful things will not stay in my home. The one who tells lies will not remain in my presence.

That would be unthinkable! God is honest, and everyone else is a liar, as Scripture says, “So you hand down justice when you speak, and you win your case in court.”

But cowardly, unfaithful, and detestable people, murderers, sexual sinners, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will find themselves in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Laws are intended for people involved in sexual sins, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for those who lie when they take an oath, and for whatever else is against accurate teachings.

Thieves must quit stealing and, instead, they must work hard. They should do something good with their hands so that they’ll have something to share with those in need.

“All of them, from the least important to the most important, are eager to make money dishonestly. All of them, from prophets to priests, act deceitfully.

I also said when I was panic-stricken, “Everyone is undependable.”

“This is what you must do whenever someone gives his neighbor silver or ⌞other⌟ valuables to keep for him, and they are stolen from that person’s house: If the thief is caught, he must make up for the loss with double the amount.

⌞The Lord continued,⌟ “Whenever someone steals a bull or a sheep and butchers it or sells it, he must make up for the loss with five head of cattle to replace the bull or four sheep to replace the sheep.

“Never desire to take your neighbor’s household away from him. “Never desire to take your neighbor’s wife, his male or female slave, his ox, his donkey, or anything else that belongs to him.”

The old prophet said, “I’m also a prophet, like you. An angel spoke the Lord’s word to me. He said, ‘Bring him home with you so that he may have something to eat and drink.’ ” (But the old prophet was lying.)

“Never lie when you testify about your neighbor.

⌞The Lord continued,⌟ “Never spread false rumors. Don’t join forces with wicked people by giving false testimony.

Don’t harvest your vineyard a second time or pick up fallen grapes. Leave them for poor people and foreigners. I am the Lord your God.

Absalom’s servants came to the woman at her home. “Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” they asked. The woman said, “They’ve crossed the stream.” The servants looked for them but did not find them. So Absalom’s servants returned to Jerusalem.

Do not testify against your neighbor without a reason, and do not deceive with your lips.
