and will make peace with the Lord at the holy place, the tent of meeting, and the altar. He will make peace with the Lord for the priests and all the worshipers.

So he will make peace with the Lord for all the sins the Israelites committed against the holy place. These sins happened because the Israelites were unclean and because they committed rebellious acts. He will do the same for the tent of meeting which is among an unclean people.

He will wash his body in the holy place and put on his other clothes. Then he will come out and sacrifice the burnt offering for himself and for the people to make peace with the Lord for his own sins and the sins of the people.

“Aaron must sacrifice the bull as his own offering for sin. By doing this, he will make peace with the Lord for himself and his family.

Leviticus 23:28

Don’t do any work that day. It is a special day for the payment for sins. It is a time when you make peace with the Lord your God.
