Why have you completely forgotten us? Why have you abandoned us for such a long time?
How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I make decisions alone with sorrow in my heart day after day? How long will my enemy triumph over me?
With a shattering blow to my bones, my enemies taunt me. They ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our suffering and misery?
Why, O God, have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep in your care?
How long, O Lord? Will you remain angry forever? Will your fury continue to burn like fire?
Will you be angry with us forever? Will you ever let go of your anger in the generations to come?
How long, O Lord? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your anger continue to burn like fire?
But Zion said, “The Lord has abandoned me. My Lord has forgotten me.”
I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem. They will never be silent day or night. Whoever calls on the Lord, do not give yourselves any rest,
Why should you be like someone taken by surprise, like a strong man who cannot help? You, O Lord, are among us. We are called by your name. Don’t leave us!
