When those who carried the ark of the Lord had gone six steps, David sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.

David and his men put God’s ark on a new cart and brought it from Abinadab’s home on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, Abinadab’s sons, were guiding the new cart.

When all the leaders of Israel had arrived, the priests picked up the Lord’s ark.

The Levitical priests will never fail to have a descendant in my presence to sacrifice burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to prepare daily sacrifices.”

So they left the mountain of the Lord and traveled for three days. The ark of the Lord’s promise went ahead of them a distance of three days’ journey to find them a place to rest.

An expert in Moses’ Teachings came to him and said, “Teacher, I’ll follow you wherever you go.”

He gave this command to the Levites who carried the ark of the Lord’s promise:

Moses wrote down these teachings and gave them to the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the Lord’s promise and to all the leaders of Israel.

However, stay about half a mile behind them. Don’t come any closer to them so that you will know which way to go because you have not gone this way before.”

Joshua also told the priests, “Take the ark of the promise, and go ahead of the people.” They did as they were told.

Order the priests who carry the ark of the promise, ‘When you step into the water of the Jordan River, stand there.’ ”

The priests who carried the ark remained standing in the middle of the Jordan. They stood there until everything the Lord had ordered Joshua to tell the people had been carried out. This was as Moses had told Joshua. The people hurried to the other side.

Joshua, son of Nun, summoned the priests. He said to them, “Pick up the ark of the promise, and have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns ahead of the Lord’s ark.”

These 144,000 virgins are pure. They follow the lamb wherever he goes. They were bought from among humanity as the first ones offered to God and to the lamb.

(The Levites had already taken down ⌞from the cart⌟ the ark of the Lord and the box which contained the gold objects and put them on the large rock.) The people of Beth Shemesh presented burnt offerings and sacrifices to the Lord that day.
