To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. I gave Esau the mountains in Seir as his own. However, Jacob and his sons went to Egypt.
Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in Seir, the country of Edom.
So Esau, who was also known as Edom, lived in the mountains of Seir.
This is the account of Esau and his descendants. He was the father of the people of Edom in the mountains of Seir.
Then Israel came to Egypt. Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham.
Children are an inheritance from the Lord. They are a reward from him.
So Jacob went to Egypt, and he and our ancestors died there.
Don’t start a fight with them, because I’m not giving you any of their land—not even enough to stand on. I’ve given Esau’s descendants the region of Mount Seir as their property.
