Didn’t you, our God, force those who were living in this country out of Israel’s way? Didn’t you give this country to the descendants of your friend Abraham to have permanently?

The Lord your God will expel them right in front of your eyes and force them out of your way. You will take their land as the Lord your God told you.

But you must be loyal to the Lord your God, as you have been until now.

The Lord forced out all the people ahead of us, including the Amorites who lived in this land. We, too, will serve the Lord, because he is our God.”
