The second lot was drawn for the families of the tribe of Simeon. Their inheritance was within Judah.

The sons of Leah were Jacob’s firstborn Reuben, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

Simeon’s descendants lived in Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar Shual,

Simeon will have one part of the land and border Benjamin on the south. It will extend from the eastern border to the western border.

On the farthest edge of the Negev, on the border of Edom, they gave the tribe of Judah 29 cities with their villages: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,

Zela, Eleph, Jebus (now called Jerusalem), Gibeath, and Kiriath. This is Benjamin’s inheritance for its families.

In their inheritance they received 13 cities and their villages: Beersheba (Sheba), Moladah,

Simeon’s inheritance was a part of Judah’s because Judah had more land than it needed. So Simeon received its inheritance inside Judah’s borders.
