Joshua 13:1

God's Word

Joshua was old, near the end of his life. So the Lord said to him, “You are old, near the end of your life, and there is a lot of land left to be conquered.

“So look at me. The Lord has kept me alive as he promised. It’s been 45 years since Israel wandered in the desert when the Lord made this promise to Moses. So now look at me today. I’m 85 years old.

The Lord your God is the one who will cross the river ahead of you. He will destroy those nations as you arrive, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua will also cross the river ahead of you, as the Lord told you.

After these events, the Lord’s servant Joshua, son of Nun, died. He was 110 years old.

Yet, they never had any children because Elizabeth couldn’t become pregnant. Both of them were too old to have children.

Abraham and Sarah were old. Sarah was past the age of childbearing.

King David had grown old, and although he was covered with blankets, he couldn’t get warm.

The land that is left includes all the districts that belong to the Philistines and Geshur.

“Give the Israelites these instructions. When you enter Canaan, the land that will be given to you as your inheritance has these borders:

Then the border goes along the Jordan River so that it ends at the Dead Sea. “This will be your land and the borders around it.”

So Joshua asked the Israelites, “How long are you going to waste time conquering the land which the Lord God of your ancestors has given you?
