Joshua 12:7

God's Word

These are the kings of the land west of the Jordan River that Joshua and the people of Israel defeated. ⌞Their lands extended⌟ from Baal Gad in the valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak which rises toward Seir. Joshua gave it as a possession to Israel, dividing it among the tribes.

These were the sons of Seir the Horite, the people living in that land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These were the Horite tribal leaders in the land of Seir.

So Esau, who was also known as Edom, lived in the mountains of Seir.

King Sihon of the Amorites, King Og of Bashan, and all the kingdoms in Canaan.

We went back into the desert, following the road that goes to the Red Sea as the Lord had told me. For a long time we traveled around the region of Mount Seir.

Give the people these instructions: ‘You’re going to pass through the territory of your relatives, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They’ll be afraid of you, but be very careful.

The land extended from Mount Halak which ascends to Seir as far as Baal Gad in the Lebanon Valley at the foot of Mount Hermon. He captured all their kings and killed them.

Joshua captured the whole land as the Lord had promised Moses. He gave it to Israel as a possession, dividing it among the tribes. So the land had peace.

The priests who carried the ark of the Lord’s promise stood firmly on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan until the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan River on dry ground.

When all the kings west of the Jordan River heard about these events,
