As he said this, everyone who opposed him felt ashamed. But the entire crowd was happy about the miraculous things he was doing.

Then Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Where did they go? Has anyone condemned you?”

Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have a life filled with light and will never live in the dark.”

Early the next morning he returned to the temple courtyard. All the people went to him, so he sat down and began to teach them.

The experts in Moses’ Teachings and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught committing adultery. They made her stand in front of everyone

Then he bent down again and continued writing on the ground.

They show that some requirements found in Moses’ Teachings are written in their hearts. Their consciences speak to them. Their thoughts accuse them on one occasion and defend them on another.

As you tell others not to commit adultery, are you committing adultery? As you treat idols with disgust, are you robbing temples?

Whenever our conscience condemns us, we will be reassured that God is greater than our conscience and knows everything.
