Jacob’s Well was there. Jesus sat down by the well because he was tired from traveling. The time was about noon.
At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
Jesus did not eat anything for 40 days and 40 nights. At the end of that time, he was hungry.
Suddenly, a severe storm came across the sea. The waves were covering the boat. Yet, Jesus was sleeping.
She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger because there wasn’t any room for them in the inn.
Jesus told him, “Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to sleep.”
Jesus answered, “Aren’t there twelve hours of daylight? Those who walk during the day don’t stumble, because they see the light of this world.
You’re not more important than our ancestor Jacob, are you? He gave us this well. He and his sons and his animals drank water from it.”
He arrived at a city in Samaria called Sychar. Sychar was near the piece of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.
A Samaritan woman went to get some water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink of water.”
You know about the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was rich, yet for your sake he became poor in order to make you rich through his poverty.
Therefore, he had to become like his brothers and sisters so that he could be merciful. He became like them so that he could serve as a faithful chief priest in God’s presence and make peace with God for their sins.
We have a chief priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he didn’t sin.
