John 20:19

God's Word

That Sunday evening, the disciples were together behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jews. Jesus stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you!”

For the sake of my relatives and friends, let me say, “May it go well for you!”

If it is a family that listens to you, allow your greeting to stand. But if it is not receptive, take back your greeting.

Where two or three have come together in my name, I am there among them.”

Still later Jesus appeared to the eleven apostles while they were eating. He put them to shame for their unbelief and because they were too stubborn to believe those who had seen him alive.

“I’m leaving you peace. I’m giving you my peace. I don’t give you the kind of peace that the world gives. So don’t be troubled or cowardly.

“Now you’re in a painful situation. But I will see you again. Then you will be happy, and no one will take that happiness away from you.

I’ve told you this so that my peace will be with you. In the world you’ll have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”

A week later Jesus’ disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

Later, by the Sea of Tiberias, Jesus showed himself again to the disciples. This is what happened.

This was the third time that Jesus showed himself to the disciples after he had come back to life.

Yet, no one would talk openly about him because they were afraid of the Jews.

After his death Jesus showed the apostles a lot of convincing evidence that he was alive. For 40 days he appeared to them and talked with them about God’s kingdom.

May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

He appeared to Cephas. Next he appeared to the twelve apostles.

So he is our peace. In his body he has made Jewish and non-Jewish people one by breaking down the wall of hostility that kept them apart.

May God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give our brothers and sisters peace and love along with faith.

Good will  and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are yours!

May the Lord of peace give you his peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything he had captured. In the first place, Melchizedek’s name means king of God’s approval. He is also called king of Salem (which means king of peace).
