Then Joseph ordered the doctors in his service to embalm his father. So the doctors embalmed Israel.

They buried him in the tomb that he had prepared for himself in the City of David. They laid him on a bed full of spices and blended perfumes. And they burned a bonfire in his honor.

Jesus said to Judas, “Leave her alone! She has done this to prepare me for the day I will be placed in a tomb.
